Atkinson Custom Homes offers a unique experience in building your custom home. Our phrase “Building a Lifestyle” is in the truest sense when you work with Zachary Atkinson and our team of professionals to make your dream home a reality. From start to finish, Zachary Atkinson personally works with you to evaluate and determine an ideal lot or land to build your custom home upon, lending and construction financing, custom home design by his Licensed Architect or yours, daily supervision and quality control, green building methods, and interior design of your custom home, both during construction and upon completion.

Zachary Atkinson will work with the client, if desired, to help determine the best lot or land to purchase to build your custom home upon.   He will use his expertise to advise you of additional costs or savings associated with each potential building site.  Atkinson Custom Homes works with some of the industry leaders in the real estate industry and, if needed, we will work hard with these licensed realtors to locate the best lot or land, although many good finds for lots and land can be found personally by Zachary working with his clients to avoid additional sales commissions.  


Custom build clients who are interested in financing options can be assisted by Atkinson Custom Homes to locate the best construction and permanent lending in the banking industry.  Current interim construction loans can be acquired for as little as 5% per year.  In addition, Atkinson Custom Homes works closely with local banks to offer one-time closing options so that the interim construction loans and permanent loans can be obtained at the same time, while locking in permanent loan interest rates before starting your custom home project.
Atkinson Custom Homes is on the cutting edge in offering a wide variety of Green Building and energy-efficient building techniques. Zachary Atkinson is a Certified Green Professional (CGP) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and all homes can be Energy Star Certified or L.E.E.D. Certified if desired by the customer. Our homes are extremely energy efficient and there are various upgrades to make your home even more green and achieve the Energy Star Rating. Zachary will work with you to determine long-term advantages and costs associated with the latest in Green Building techniques.
During the construction process and after completion of your new home, Zachary and a Licensed Interior Designer will work with you to help with the interior finish out and furnishing of your home. As mentioned before, Zachary will accompany you to various showrooms to select all of your homes features, tile, granite, lighting and plumbing fixtures, interior and exterior doors and trim, exterior rock, stucco and brick, etc. Zachary will personally take you to Dallas Market and his other industry contacts to get you wholesale pricing on home furnishings. This can be a tremendous amount of savings, sometimes up to 70% off retail prices. Atkinson Custom Homes creates a truly “hands-on” experience for the client from start to finish in every aspect of building your dream home.

Atkinson Custom Homes is a San Antonio, Texas based firm that is owned and operated by Zachary T. Atkinson. Atkinson Custom Homes is dedicated to consistently deliver the highest of quality construction at a competitive price. Zachary strives to build and maintain a long lasting relationship with his clients, with its foundation based on meeting and exceeding expectations, integrity, courtesy, honesty, friendship, and fairness. Atkinson Custom Homes specializes in Old World, Texas Hill Country, and Tuscan styles of New Home Construction. Most of the homes are made of solid rock exteriors while sometimes combining old world stucco, coolstone, exposed Douglas fir beams and brick.

Atkinson Custom Homes is a member of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), Texas Association of Homebuilders (TAHB), Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA), Licensed by the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC), Certified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA, and is a Certified Green Builder (CGP) by the National Association of Homebuilders.


Zachary is a Texas Tech graduate with a vast amount of experience in construction and homebuilding.  Growing up in the oilfields of West Texas, Zachary learned at an early age the value of hard work, dedication and commitment.  Zachary operates the company from his home and has no full-time employees, which allows low overhead costs and a valuable savings that he is able to pass on to his clients.  Zachary personally maintains full-time, day-to-day supervision of every project.  By being a low-volume builder, this allows Zachary to dedicate his full attention to every detail of the project - from lot selection and architectural design to construction from start to finish.  In addition, customers have the opportunity to purchase home furnishings and accessories at wholesale prices using Zachary’s industry contacts.

Atkinson Custom Homes works closely with its custom clients to help design their custom home floor plan. Atkinson Custom Homes has one of the best architects in the industry. Zachary Atkinson will work diligently with you and the architect to provide key input on your custom home design, such as construction costs, and answer any questions you may have along the way. With our Licensed Architect it typically takes six weeks to four months to create your custom home floor plan. Atkinson Custom Homes will also build any plan created by your own Licensed Designer or Architect. If desired, Zachary will personally take you to Interior Design studios, showrooms and other homes built by Atkinson Custom Homes to help you in your decision-making process.

Zachary Atkinson provides daily on-site supervision of your custom home to ensure the highest level of quality construction. Our main goal at Atkinson Custom Homes is to deliver the highest level of quality construction and complete customer satisfaction by using superior building techniques, premium building materials, the most talented and reputable subcontractors, and extreme attention to detail. Much is expected of our suppliers and subcontractors so that we can provide unmatched quality and attention to detail. You will be updated weekly of your custom home construction status and there will be a minimum of twice-monthly meetings to familiarize you with your home and to answer any questions you might have.
